Overall, post-colonialism deals with territories that are, or once were colonized by another territories. Another aspect is that it is a field of studies developed and studied from third world spaces in first world locations. Post-colonialism describes all of the social, political, and cultural events that formed from the rise and fall of European colonialism that has been going on since the 19th century. One emphasis of post-colonialism is the ongoing colonial forms of power in present-day politics. This also includes issues involving relationships between classes, gender and race and their differences and relations. Besides post-colonialism itself, all of these ideas are incorporated into the post-colonial theory. It adresses the same issues as well as identity, and ethnicity and the struggles that these colonized territories go through in the midst of colonial rule.
